Living room carpet transformation with Alice @homeonthehey

My house renovation has very much been a labour of love and full of challenges at every turn. As anyone with an older house will know sometimes the biggest issues with the house are the ones that you can’t see! After initially renovating a few downstairs rooms so that we could at least make some habitable space, we rushed into buying carpets to finish it quickly. The carpet we picked for the largest living room was just a bit too light in colour and after encountering a few more issues with the room after renovating it didn’t fair well and had lots of marks and even cuts to it after having to pull it up a further three times. At this point I couldn’t wait to replace it for something slightly darker and with a higher percentage of wool in it.

If you have an older house you will know that they are prone to being drafty and colder no matter how much you insulate. For me carpeting the main living areas with the exception of the kitchen is an absolute must. It’s so just so much warmer than hardwood flooring. A darker colour and a more hardwearing carpet means that they are easy to maintain and stand the test of time over some of the synthetic alternatives. I ordered my carpet samples from FloorLove and as soon as they arrived I knew that I’d found the right carpet for this room. The darker colour (Pillow) has made it more practical and the 80% wool composition of the Snuggle collection makes it much warmer underfoot and finally completed the room as I always envisioned it looking. We’ve got a lovely winter ahead of us in this room with a brand new log burner and wool carpet to make this space look cosy, warm and inviting.
